Project: The Companion is a new kind of remote control, designed specifically for the elderly.
Rethinking the TV remote control form and function, The Companion suggests, the conversations we are already having with our mobile devices form the basis for highly intelligent, emotive, and expressive models of selecting television content. The Companion records voice memos spoken by the user and filters TV programming to their interests. By creating a remote that simply understands spoken queries and is tracked by a framework that is designed to learn about the user. It can program itself and suggest media content towards the users mood and most spoken topics. The experience of watching television is enhanced, by reducing time invested in searching what the user wishes to watch.
